| The use of seaweed and seawater for the purpose of preventive and
remedial skin care treatments has been documented as early as 60 B.C.
While the therapeutic use of seaweed, seawater and their derivative
qualities is only now receiving widespread attention in the United
States, the benefits of Thalassotherapy have long been recognized
and enjoyed by Europeans. Europeans have popularized the Thalassotherapy
concept at treatment centers and health spas, some of which have
been in operation for over a century.
The qualities of seawater are considerable. Seawater is a
rich and balanced composition which offers all of the elements necessary
for cellular life. Seaweed, being a product of this environment,
offers tremendous concentrations of these elements. In a density
up to 10,000 times greater than that of seawater.
The application of the seaweed body masque combines the beneficial
properties of the seaweed cream with the anti-aging and detoxificating
function of the concentrated filtrate.
The use of a thermal wrap causes dilation of the capillaries and
favors the exchange and elimination of substances.
Thalassotherapy treatments last approximately one hour, or about
one and a half hours if followed by a massage. |
